Presentation preparations – and I found…

Delivering presentations without getting the audience to fall asleep are about preparation, having a story to tell and some skills. I love searching for details, facts and other tidbits I can use in my presentations. While searching I came across a great piece of video I would like to share!

Some of the things I love to add to my presentations are facts, quotes and odd tidbits. They should be related to the topic and should add something to the story. I’m currently preparing for a small session on presentation skills and techniques, and one of the things I wanted to talk about is the fear people have for public speaking.

While looking for some statistics to back up the quote by Jerry Seinfeld;

“According to most studies, people’s number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you’re better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.”

I came across a company named SOAP Presentations (State Of The Art Presentations) who makes a living of “defining the approach, writing the script, creating the visuals and coaching the presenter”. To me, that sounds like a dream job. And I have to admit… They seem pretty darn good at what they do.

One of the things I found while roaming their web page was their Oscar Worthy Examples of Business Presentations – their own presentations. And on top of their list – Microsoft Holiday Card. Now enjoy!
